Bridge City Gumbo Festival is world famous for the gumbo cooked daily at the festival grounds. Over 2000 gallons of both seafood and chicken/sausage gumbo will be prepared for visitors during the festival.
A variety of other native Louisiana cooking such as jambalaya, New Orleans style red beans and rice with sausage as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, onion mums, homemade cakes and candies, funnel cakes and many delicious surprises will also be available.
There is also festival rides and good Louisiana music. Dance to the music or just lay back with a drink and enjoy the sights and sounds. There is usually surprise entertainment announced just before opening.
In addition there will be a beautiful child contest and a Miss Creole Pagent. This is much fun and should not be missed.
You are invited to join us at the Bridge City Gumbo Festival the weekend of October 12th, 13th & 14th, 2012
A center piece of the festival is the worlds largest gumbo pot. This cast iron behemoth can make a lot of gumbo.
Because Cajun folk traditions are rooted in an appreciation for food, Cajun cooks challenge champions in the Gumbo Cooking Contest, and invite everyone to enter.
Continuous live entertainment and a fais-do-do (dance) area provide a focal point for the festival’s outdoor activities. Appearances by local and visiting bands of Cajun, Country, Zydeco, Jazz, Blues and Rock music highlight the GUMBO FESTIVAL’S attractions. Parking is free to the public.
Miss Creole Gumbo and King Creole Gumbo will also be on hand to greet and welcome visitors.
There will be festival rides in addition to the good music. You can dance to the music or just lay back and enjoy.
This unique Festival invites all craftsmen with goods for sale to rent booth space at the festival.
But most of all come for the gumbo. It is delicious. And don't miss the gumbo cook off where each year a Champion gumbo cook is selected.
