Sloss Furnaces Birmingham, Alabama
Join us at the Gumbo Gala for Cajun food, music, entertainment and fun as professional and amateur cook off teams cook and serve gumbo and compete for the title of "Best Gumbo In Birmingham".
Proceeds from this event go to Episcopal Place where they provide services such as pastoral care, case management, weekday noon meals, transportation, and resident activities which help the 146 residents remain independent and live a homelike environment.
Purchase tickets in advance by clicking the ADD TO CART at the Gumbo-Gala web site or you may purchase tickets at the event. Tickets purchased in advance can be picked up at the event entrance.
Thank you for supporting this event and helping our residents live life to the fullest, build new relationships, and live healthy lives by connecting to community health and support services.
A special note from The Gumbo Man the creator of this web site. I encourage everyone to go to this event. You will have a blast. Plus there is lots of good gumbo to sample. You can meet your old friends and make new ones during the day. Everyone is there for fun and good times and to support a great cause. Do you like to dance? Then come on down. The music is great and there is lots of room to move your feet to the rhythms.
Next years event (2013) will be held at Sloss Furnace in Birmingham. Sloss Furnace is an old iron blast furnace where iron ore was processed into to pig iron. It was closed many years ago but the city of Birmingham has converted it into a park and a landmark for the city. It is often used for festivals.
