A seafood gumbo mix recipe that tastes authentic and is so easy to make

John Folse gumbo mix This seafood gumbo mix recipe is for those occasions when you don't have the time to make a traditional gumbo using a roux. Of course making a roux from scratch will always make the best gumbo but this mix recipe will get you very close to the original.

I have used this mix several times and I recommend it. It is outstanding to take to your tailgate events for a fast and hearty meal. It is recommended for camping trips too.

But do not hesitate to make this at home for your family or for guests. It is really excellent for a fast and easy recipe that can be made in minutes.

Seafood Gumbo Mix-Recipe

1 Package John Folse gumbo mix

1 pound andouille sliced (or any lean smoked sausage)

3-1/2 quarts hot water

2 pounds peeled shrimp

1 pound crab meat

1 pound oysters (optional)

1 onion chopped

1 cup celery chopped

Directions

In a large stockpot add 1 quart water and roux mix. Stir until well blended.

Add remaining water, seasoning packet, onion, celery and sausage. Bring to a boil then reduce to simmer and cook 30 minutes.

Add all seafood and cook 15 minutes. Cover and let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Serve 1-1/4 cup gumbo with 1/3 cup cooked rice in a bowl.

Will serve 8-10.
